These No Bake Easter Egg Nests only use 5 ingredients and are healthier, using shredded wheat and natural peanut butter. They’re a quick, easy and delicious Easter dessert.
Spring is so inspiring. I don’t know if it’s the change in seasons that bring new seasonal food to mind or the cute Easter colors of pale blues, pinks and greens that give me all the feels. When I walked into the market this month my eyes lit up with all the easter colored decorations, candies and baking supplies. I couldn't help but get the little eggs to put in a peanut buttery nest of goodness.
The traditional easter egg nest dessert consists of chow mein noodles, but I wanted to put a healthier spin on it with some shredded wheat (less salty, less saturated fat and higher in fiber). I love the texture that the shredded wheat brings. A good crunch, paired with the salty note from the peanut butter is a dream. It's almost like eating a crunchy peanut butter cup.
Back to these No bake Easter Egg Nests…
Not only do they only have 5 ingredients, but these no bake egg nests take about 5 minutes to make too. So easy! Not to mention easy to transport to a friend's or family member's house for Easter dinner. No worrying about frosting smearing all over the place.
Ingredients in Easter Egg Nests
- Peanut butter (I love Crazy Richard's)
- Peanut butter chips (you can find these in the baking aisle)
- Coconut oil
- Shredded wheat
- Chocolate egg candies
How to Make No Bake Easter Egg Nests
First, grab a large bowl and add peanut butter chips and coconut oil. The coconut oil helps to prevent the chips from burning in the microwave. Then microwave the two for about a minute or until the chips melt. Watch out when you remove it from the microwave, the bowl can get pretty hot. Add in your natural peanut butter here. I like the brand Crazy Richard's. I am not sponsored by them, but I have received products from them in the past and have enjoyed it!
Next, smash the shredded wheat using your hands until there are no clumps. Add the shredded wheat to the melted peanut butter mixture. Using a small cookie scoop (or a tablespoon) scoop out the ‘nest’ and drop it into a mini muffin tin. I haven’t tested this recipe using a regular sized muffin tin, but I would guess it would maybe require another scoop or two to fill the muffin sizes.
After you scoop the Easter egg nest, use the back of the scoop to press a small divet into the center of the nest. Place your chocolate candies in the center of the nest to emulate Easter Eggs. Refrigerate or freeze until the nests have set and enjoy!
Lastly, I would recommend keeping them in the refrigerator until 10 minutes prior to serving.

These No Bake Easter Egg Nests only use 5 ingredients and are healthier, using shredded wheat and natural peanut butter. They’re a quick, easy and delicious Easter dessert.
Ingredients
1 ¼ cup shredded wheat cereal
½ cup creamy peanut butter
½ cup peanut butter chips or chocolate chips (if you prefer)
1 tsp coconut oil
1 package of chocolate Easter candy eggs
Instructions
- In a large bowl combine coconut oil and chocolate chips (or peanut butter chips) and microwave on high heat for 1 minute. Check to see if they are melted, if not, stir and put back in microwave for 30 more seconds.
- While the chocolate is melting, smash 1 ¼ cup of shredded wheat cereal in a zip-lock bag (or use your hands, rolling pin or meat cleaver).
- After chocolate is melted, mix in peanut butter. Once combined, add in shredded wheat and mix until shredded wheat is coated in peanut butter/chocolate mixture.
- Using a cookie scoop or a tablespoon, scoop out nest contents into the mini muffin tin.
- Use the back of the scoop to press a small divet into the center of the nest. Place the chocolate candied eggs in the center and refrigerate to harden.
- Refrigerate until 10 minute prior to serving.
Notes
If you prefer an all peanut butter nest, swap out chocolate chips for peanut butter chips.
I have not tried using a regular sized muffin tin with this recipe, but I'm sure it would work. You would just have less nests.
I used a natural (aka drippy) peanut butter for these nests.
If you don't have chocolate candy eggs, M&M or chocolate chips would also work!
